Loschmidt-Prize for Christoph Deutsch

Physicist of TU Vienna Christoph Deutsch who is also researcher in the IR-ON project "Infrared response of semiconductor nanostructures" received the award on January 20th for his work on novel material structures of Thz-quantum cascade lasers. The Loschmidt-Prize is awarded anually to researches for outstanding dissertation projects. Deutsch could realise a record laser with nearly 1 Watt output power and was able to use new innovative semiconductor materials. New book by F. Bechstedt on SFB results on the market!

Open Doors at Photonics Institute of TU Vienna!

High school pupils visited the the Photonics Institute at Open Doors Day
of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Technical University of Vienna.
They were shown 3 different presentations: "Controlled Light: From the Light Bulb to Gigawatt-Ultrashort-Pulsed Lasers","Laser Ignition" and "THz Waves: When the Invisible Enables the Vision" and asked many interested questions.
