gernot faschingThe prestigious Loschmidt-Prize, named after the Austrian physicists and chemist Josef Loschmidt, is awarded every year by the Austrian Chemical and Physical Society to PhD graduates for excellent dissertations.

 

This year’s Loschmidt-Prize was awarded to Gernot Fasching for this dissertation on TeraHertz semi-conductor lasers and quantum dots at the Photonics Institute of the Technical University Vienna.

 

Gernot Fasching studied Technical Physics at the Technical University of Vienna. He wrote his dissertation in the team of Professor Karl Unterrainer at the Photonics Institute.

 

His research was financed by the Special Research Programms IR-ON and ADLIS of the Austrian Science Fund FWF.

Since 2008 Gernot Fasching works as a assistant professor at the Photonics Institute.
