Wednesday, 24 November 2010 |
At the 30th International Conference on the Physics of Semiconductors, Seoul, Korea (July 25-30, 2010) two invited papers were presented by: 1) Elisabeth Lausecker "UV nanoimprint lithography for Si pit-patterning and pre-defined SiGe island growth" (For large area patterning in the sub 200 nm period range and subsequent ordered island growth a UV nanoimprintlithography technique was developed and applied to fabricate Ge islands with excellent optical response in the 1.5 mm wavelength range) (Project: P12, PI: Thomas Fromherz) 2) Astrid Hochrainer "Widely tunable mid-infrared photoluminescence from epitaxial PbTe quantum dots embedded in a CdTe matrix" In this talk the so far longest wavelength operation of any quantum dot laser (3.72 mm) was reported. This mid- IR laser is based on a single layer of PbTe quantum dots (dot size : 20 nm) embedded in a CdTe matrix, it operates in cw mode up to T = 200K, so far.
